John is the one who has orchestrated the second kidnapping of Ronnie. Is Ronnie alive? Has the same kidnapper, who got Angela in the beginning got Ronnie? These are some of the challenges that face Sarita and Martin. There are three people who are following the second kidnapping case of Ronnie each with his own motive. He doesn't fully agree but he is a constant bystander and sometimes offers valuable clues to her.John does his own investigation on the case. Inspector Sarita Sarkar(Vidya) asks Martin for help. Who is this man kidnapping young children. Investigation indicates that it could be the same man who kidnapped Angela. However when he hears that a young boy Ronnie has also been kidnapped from Rippon Street, the same place where Angela went missing from eight years earlier, Martin also finds himself being drawn into the investigation of the kidnapping case similar to that of Angela, eight years since she went missing. He couldn't handle his failure and some guilt that he is hiding, hence he becomes a priest and wants to spend time reading sermons. He had tried his level best to help John find Angela but had been unsuccessful. There is friction between Father Martin Das (Nawazuddin), who was once a cop and John. It is clear that he has temporarily lost faith in the Almighty for not getting him justice for his abducted and murdered granddaughter. Sometimes he meets Father Martin outside the church steps. On his way to the police station each day John passes the church. However he also sits down every single day and tries to piece together the kidnapping case that has destroyed his peace of mind and taken away his sleep. In short, he does all the household chores. Since she is unwell, John, cooks, dries clothes on the terrace, gives her medication, he even shops for fish. He goes home to a wife(Mary) who is in a wheelchair. He drives a blue Chetak scooter that gives him starting trouble now and then. She patiently tells him to give up but he will not listen.
He visits the police station daily in the hope of getting answers regarding his granddaughter’s kidnappers, but police inspector Sarita Sarkar has no answers. John Biswas (Bachchan) is a 70-year old helpless man who continues following up the case of his missing granddaughter Angela.
